What Areas of the Body Can Chiropractic Treatment Address?

Chiropractic treatment deals with the correction of spinal disorders, including issues like musculoskeletal disorders and nerve pain. To make a proper diagnosis, the chiropractor will have the patient undergo a physical and neurological evaluation, which may include x-rays or CT scans. This article focuses on the different parts of the body that can be treated with chiropractic care.

The need for chiropractic treatment

The nervous system, originating from the spinal nerves, connects to every area of the body. The nerves are how the body communicates or transfers information from everywhere else to the brain’s hub. One could think of the brain as the service provider, and the spine and spinal nerves are the network’s peripherals through which parts of the body, including the organs, limbs, and fingers, connect. When the peripherals have issues, the blame goes to the service provider. This may be accurate in some cases, but other times, it is the connection that has issues.

Since the nerves connect to every part of the body, issues with the spinal nerves can cause pain around the limbs and damage the internal organs like the lungs, liver, and heart. The spine may be the origin of pain in any area of the body. Chiropractic treatment can address issues in the following areas:

The head – most of the headaches we feel are the result of pressure in the spinal nerves. Headaches are prevalent thanks to factors like dehydration, stress, hangovers, and damaged nerves. Medications are usually the first line of treatment, but they do not always correct the origin of the problem.

The neck – even those who do not have an active lifestyle can experience neck tension. Patients can visit the chiropractor to correct issues like stiffness or tightness around the neck area.

The joints and muscles

Spinal misalignments can cause tension in the back and serious issues around the body. Vertebrae misalignment can cause joint pain, including in the knee, shoulders, and elbows. Overstretching or tearing the ligaments, tendons, or muscles can result in sprains or strains that can cause severe pain. Chiropractic treatment can help alleviate pain and inflammation in the joints and muscles.

The body has many joints that can get stuck. Joint issues can potentially cause issues in other areas of the body. For instance, a hip joint can get stuck, increasing pressure and pain in the lower back. People often experience headaches and migraines due to neck issues, and their necks may not even hurt.

Some people may have what is called limb length discrepancy, which may cause scoliosis (twisted spine) and, consequently, neck pain. Such patterns are present throughout the body. Therefore, a thorough examination and correction of joint movement with chiropractic care can get the body working as it should. The body will heal and return to full health with all forms of interference removed.

In conclusion

Some of the body parts that chiropractic care can address are highlighted above. If you are experiencing issues in those areas, you might benefit from a visit to the chiropractor.
